On Saturday, I had one of my busiest workdays yet. Between covering the jersey retirement ceremony and reception of one of Ohio's greatest female basketball players, shooting senior day recognition for Men's and Women's basketball, and shooting the games themselves, I barely had time to scarf down a piece of pizza.
It was a long day, but I was happy to be able to capture a day that was so special to a lot of people. Although the women lost their game, the men's game was really exciting. Ohio won in overtime 103-96, and Treg Setty, the lone senior on the team, received a standing ovation as he walked off the court.
Days like these are the days that make me feel like I want to shoot sports for the rest of my life. When the game is exciting, I take better pictures, because the intensity is high and I'm pumped. The reactions from the players on the bench are energetic, and the emotion of the crowd and players is special. The power that sports have to bring people together is incredible. As a photographer, I'm not part of the team... but sitting down there on the court, seeing and capturing the reactions of the players that are five, ten feet from me, sure makes me feel like I am.
Here's some photos from the game:
